The Riding in MorginsThe best kept secret of the 'Portes du Soleil': Morgins!

Our chalet is located 5 seconds from the chairlift at start / finish of all the downhill tracks Morgins has to offer! Expect nothing but the best Alpine riding: fast, steep & fun. First in and last out is our philosophy…

Many of the tracks in Morgins are designed by Ben Walker and his team, same guys responsible for the World Championship track in Champéry (DH & 4X). 'Our' tracks are maintained on a very regular basis which results in outstanding track conditions and less braking bumps.Morgins is located in the much quieter Swiss part of the territory and we have direct access to the bikepark and the complete 'PDS' bike domain, no cars or public transport!

The tracks are extremely flowy, fun, long and accessible for all riding levels.Because Morgins is heavily wooded all tracks run through the forest and the term 'Tree run' gets a new meaning. There are 3 main tracks: La Derupe (aesy), La Toboganne (medium) and La Carigole (hard). In 2012 there were build stunning new sections which link the exisiting tracks and offer new big features, a spectacular upgrade to the bikepark if you ask us! In short Morgins offers a perfect balance between the natural environment and man-made bikepark features.

La Derupe is a really fast & fun track which will get every rider a huge smile from start to finish! The top-section is in a league of its own when it comes to high berms and speed! With no real big jumps in the track it is accessible for novice riders too and is a good track to practice turns and getting comfortable on roots and rocks.

La Toboganne is a technical one and asks for a lot of focus! It's all about keeping the flow on this one! It offers outstanding turns suddenly interrupted by a big road-gap in the top-section. After this it is a true 'root garden' followed by some steep and tricky turns. Accessible for all riding levels on an easy pace and a real hands full when hitting all road gaps, jumps and roots on race pace...

La Carigole is a tricky track and especially the lower part is extremely steep. This track is more 'old fashioned' with short and technical turns instead of the comfortable high berms like on the other two tracks. It is more difficult to keep it flowy and hit all the obstacles on the mid sections but it gets really gnarly on the lower section!

Each rider will love the tracks and we're happy to coach inexperienced riders from top to bottom! We organise a photo-shoot every Friday and the lift is operating until 5pm. We love our tracks so very much that we'll dare to say you will too, guaranteed!

Bikepark Morgins (Morgins)

MTBM'S wicked wednesdaysExtend your trip with a Roadtrip to amazing Swiss destinations.

Morgins is situated within 20 minutes of the valley highway and this puts very cool Swiss locations outside the 'Portes du Soleil' region within reach. This year we will offer our guest Roadtrips to some of our favourite local Freeride spots and Bikeparks.

We have a dedicated bike trailer for the transportation of the bikes and we can carry up to 10 bikes per Roadtrip. You can pre-book a spot for a Roadtrip and be sure of the destination with a minimum of 4 people. You can also claim your spot during your stay in Morgins. The destination will be decided in consultation with the group and your guide, taking notice of group size and overall skill level.

The Roadtrips normally take place at Wednesdays and the prices vary because of the difference in distance and lift prices. When more Roadtrips are wanted we can offer trips on multiple days of the week. Prices include transportation, lift pass/train tickets and an MTBM guide with good knowledge of the area.

Many of these trips take quite some time to organize so if you and your group would like to take part on a Roadtrip we would love to hear about it in advance. Why not extand your trip and visit France, Switserland and Itlay in one week? Check out our 2014 destinations below and make your choice!

Travel Information?Bike set-up, bike rentals, clothing and protection

The Portes du Soleil offers a true Alpine environment and we focus on downhill riding during the week. Here you can find some do's & dont's for your riding holiday.

Bring your full-suspension freeride or downhill bike with 160+ mm of travel. Off course suspension and amount of travel is pretty personal but in our opinion better be safe than sorry and ride your 180 to 200mm set up. Prep your bike before you visit us and get it in tip-top condition no matter what.

Your bike will get a real beating during the week and checking your bike at home makes you feel more confident on the tracks. Check your brake pads and you probably do not want to ride a soft compound tire in the rear over here. It will be grippy but you’ll need a new one within days. We have brake-pads, tires & tubes, chains & guides in stock and we’ll help you keep the bike running like it should during the week!

If you fancy a more Enduro-Style week please let us know. The area offers great trails and we would love to make you a fitting program.

Rent a bike

This summer an arsenal of perfect bikes is ready to rip the trails. Do you own a freeride bike and want to try a high-end downhill race bike or not yet in the possession of a big rig but still want to enjoy our holidays? No reason to stay home, we’ve got excellent bikes for hire at competitive prices!

Every day all rentals are checked- and fixed, where needed. The price includes insurance for damaged parts and protection! (Knee/shin & elbow guards + full face helmet). You can make reservations for rental bikes in the bookings form.

In these high mountain passes the weather can change quickly and good clothing is important. Bring a good top layer that can withstand wind and rain and bring enough base layers, jerseys and shorts for a week of riding. You might only wear your favorite pair all week on sunny weeks but on a rainy one you’ll run out fast! A backpack is important to so bring a comfy one which can hold some spares and tools, your top layer and some food and water.

All riding is at your own risk! Knee protection and a full-face helmet are required. Other protection is optional but we recommend good back and elbow protection as well. This is a tough cookie and we do not want to get involved in a debate on using protection or not but in our opinion a bit more of it won’t kill you and a lack of it just might...

Travel informationBooking procedures, insurance & local Currency

When you have decided to visit us this summer you can register your trip on our bookings page. You can choose your payment option: we accept direct bank transfer or PayPal payments (small surcharge applies if using PayPal option). We ask a 25% down payment within 14 days to complete the reservation. Balance of holiday cost is due in full 8 weeks before your arrival date, at the latest....But can be paid any time before this. Comprehensive Medical Insurance is mandatory on all Mountain Biking Morgins trips. Our trips take place in wilderness areas where there is often little access to normal medical services or hospital facilities. Where necessary, evacuation can be difficult and expensive. Medical and evacuation expenses will be the responsibility of the participant. Trip participants are responsible for purchasing medical insurance. European visitors should always bring a European Health Insurance Card and get an extra insurance covering extreme sports and/or mountain biking.

Money & Currency

The ‘Portes du Soleil’ area is located on Swiss and French soil. Morgins is situated just over the border and therefore is a Swiss village with the Swiss Franc as local currency. In most places you can pay with Euro’s but keep in mind that the exchange rate in local pubs, restaurants or at the bike shop are not ideal so always bring some Swiss Francs and Euro’s with you!

You can find ATM’s in Morgins for Swiss Francs and in Châtel for Euro’s. In our chalet you’ll only need to pay for your drinks and we offer lunch and snacks for lunch when we are riding in Morgins. Everything else is included in your pre-booked trip. We work with tokens which you can buy in sets of 20 and will set you back 40 euro’s or 50 francs. We do this so we don’t have problems changing money and mixing up currencies all the time!

Adventurous Swiss Alps'Off the bike' activities in the Portes du Soleil.

The area is a true paradise for mountain bikers but is just as fun and suitable for other (extreme) sports and activities!

Don’t feel like riding your bike all week or interested in other outdoor activities? Via MTBM you can participate in Rafting, Canyoning and Via Ferrata (climbing). All activities are done under professional supervision of our partner 7Aventures. All activities can be arranged and booked when you arrive in Morgins. For groups of 8 people or more we can provide inquiries and make reservations on all activities: please tell us about it.

Bike mecca 'Les Portes du Soleil'1 lift pass, 30 Dh trakcs, 600 km trail & single track, 26 lifts, 12 resorts!

Morgins is part of the immense ‘Portes du Soleil’ region. This is the world's largest ski resort and with that in summer also is the largest contiguous bike domain! Because all twelve villages truly are accessible with one lift pass, the range is enormous! Over 600 km of trails and around 30 permanent DH tracks, accessed by 26 lifts!

Most bikers are familiar with Morzine & Les Gets. The reason is simple: Les Gets hosted the World Championships Downhill as early as 1994. Because of this long history, quick lift access and big marketing budgets these resorts acquired a great reputation.

In recent years Les Gets and Morzine suffered from the enormous amounts of tourists. Because there was way too little invested in maintenance and new tracks, these resorts had to give way for the 'new' side of the area. Châtel, Linderettes, Morgins, Champéry and Les Crosets in recent years worked very hard to facilitate good new tracks, offer better maintenance and have fewer crowds due to smart lift access. We can divide the whole region into 3 bikeparks:

Bikepark Châtel (Avoriaz, Linderettes, Châtel)
Bikepark Les Gets (Les Gets, Morzine) (Champery, Les Crosets, Morgins)

The Châtel bike park is insane! Beautiful flowy freeride runs, super steep rocky tracks, sick North Shore and huge gaps and step-ups make this park really stand out! In our opinion Châtel is one of Europe's best bikeparks and can be compared with the bigger North American bikeparks. The newer tracks have a slopestyle look & feel to them and Châtel's shape team are building new outstanding tracks each summer now (Air Voltage, 2010 and Zikalato, 2012). Everyone will love Châtel but especially the experienced riders will go crazy over here...

Bikepark Les Gets offers good riding. With their newly designed Jump Park (2009), the natural Canyon and Les Gets main motorway it's a love it or hate it place. We'll offer a grand tour on Thursdays on which we will visit Les Gets and show you the best!

Diversity of tracks is what distinguishes On "Le Grand Conche" you’ll start at 2140m altitude and ride down on gnarly rock sections and steep hairpins. In Morgins you'll mainly ride tree runs and Champéry is considered to be one of the most technical (and steep) tracks on the World Cup Downhill circuit as we speak! What puts this park aside is the natural character of all the tracks. The area gives you an overwhelming feeling because of its exceptional natural environment. Discover it all cause it’ll be just a footstep away…

Our stayHome for the week is chalet 'bois gentil' at 5 sec. from the chairlift.

This beautiful, typical Swiss 'Bikers Retreat' exudes a very relaxed atmosphere and can accommodate 30 riders per week. No concrete madness or non-personal approach at our chalet, not for nothing called ’Bois Gentil’ (friendly forest). At MTBM it’s not luxury that stands out but our warm, cozy and social vibe make this a special place to hang out!

A quick bike fix between runs, a tasteful lunch in our garden, just relax in your room, read some magazines in our lounge or join in and have a beer or two in the ‘Dirty Downhill Bar’. Our ride in ride out access, delicious food and smart bike facilities make MTBM stand out.

MTBM is running with a fully independent team and our 'All Inclusive' concept provides you with a hearty breakfast and dinner every day. We have 2, 3 and 4 person rooms and each room has a washbasin. On each floor you’ll find several showers and toilets

and our chalet is fitted with a separate diner, lounge and bar area! Morgins city center is a footstep away and the outdoor pool is just around the corner!

With 5 years of experience at our location in Morgins MTBM is ready to expand and our goal is to offer riders from all over the globe a taste of alpine adventure. We think a mix of cultures, nationalities and personalities combined with the love for our sport will result in a lot of fun, new friends and fresh riding! Our official language is English but our crew speaks a little French, German, Dutch and Spanish to.

Room allocations

Our chalet has a variety of rooms and always tries to fit a group together! Couples are always guaranteed a private room to themselves and we would never force mixed-sex room sharing. Bookings which exceed 4 people always need two rooms. In some cases this results in spare beds: if you are willing to share your room with other riders you will receive a 25 euro discount on your booking. If you want a single room you’ll pay an extra 100 euro’s surcharge. With this we’ll turn things around a bit and reach out to riders travelling alone alone!

For example: if a group of 4 makes a booking, but we only have one twin and one triple room available (i.e. 5 spaces), we would split the group into two groups of two guests. However, we cannot absolutely guarantee the remaining bed would be left vacant unless an additional "single room" surcharge is paid at the time of booking (i.e. in rare cases it MAY be filled with a customer travelling alone. If this is this case you will receive a 25 euro discount on the booking).

The Food

Every stay is on a half board basis: MTBM provides you with the daily provision of breakfast and two course dinner. We offer a marvellous breakfast with fresh bread from our local bakery, loads of sandwich filling, fruit and delicious local meats and cheese; coffee, thee and orange juice are included to! Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 9:15

Every evening around 7:30 we serve a really tasty dinner. We keep in mind you’ve been riding all day and we focus on both quantity and quality! Without telling you everything about our weekly menu we can tell you it includes an Italian and Mexican night as well as an authentic ‘Swiss Cheese Fondue’ on Friday night! Water and a nice cup of coffee are included to. We also offer a vegetarian menu if wanted (20 euro’s surcharge.) We cannot provide in wheat free / anti-allergy options.
